RACELAND, La. (WVUE) – Two men and women ended up killed and five hurt in a crash involving two large pickup vehicles Saturday night (Dec. 4) in Lafourche Parish, the Louisiana Point out Police claimed.
The collision transpired soon right after 8 p.m. at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 182 and U.S. Highway 90, just west of Raceland. The identities and ages of the two deceased victims ended up not instantly produced, pending notification of family users, LSP Trooper Ross Brennan said.
According to a preliminary investigation by point out law enforcement, a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 36-year-old Dionicio Gutierrez-Rios of Thibodaux was touring west on Highway 182, and unsuccessful to yield to oncoming website traffic when building a left convert onto the Freeway 90 West on-ramp. The Silverado was struck by a 2017 Dodge RAM 3500 that was traveling east in the still left lane of Freeway 182.
Gutierrez-Rios was donning a seat belt and endured minor accidents, law enforcement mentioned, but a few of his travellers were not restrained in just the truck. Two sustained lethal injuries, and the third was hospitalized with “serious injuries” according to the LSP.
The driver of the RAM and two travellers inside that motor vehicle were appropriately restrained, and each individual survived the collision with minimal accidents, the point out law enforcement said.
Trooper Brennan claimed regular toxicology samples had been gathered from both equally motorists and submitted for analysis, and that the crash remains under investigation.
