Town program will give suitable Tampa owners up to $50,000 for dwelling repairs

TAMPA, Fla. – A new software in Tampa aims to stabilize neighborhoods and continue to keep homeowners in their houses by assisting them make required repairs amid mounting charges.

The consequences of the pandemic have created homeownership more complicated for some, but Tampa house owners struggling to preserve up with repairs can get some a lot-necessary support by a new software. 

Tampa’s supervisor of Housing and Group Advancement, Kayon Henderson says the city is placing $3 million into supporting the Owner-Occupied Residence Rehabilitation System, which allows householders with minimal or preset incomes make required repairs. 

If eligible and property owners stay within the rules, it is no cost. 

“We do repairs up to $50,000 for every property, and then we set an affordability period on that household,” states Henderson. “As long as they retain operator-occupied, they can stay in the property and it’s a fully forgivable bank loan.”

Repairs suitable less than the program incorporate roofing, plumbing, electrical, flooring and structural partitions, warmth/AC, basis problems, siding, porch repairs, home windows, water heater repairs, and handicapped accessibility improvements. Direct-centered paint remediation or other environmental issues are also coated.
